I love getting away to the coast.
This was the view on my morning walk
Gorgeous, isn’t it?
I cant’ get enough of it.
There is something about
The wildness of the ocean
The salty smell in the air
The vast blue sky ….
I feel so calm and happy in the face of such beautiful, raw nature.
It helps me tune in and get back in touch with who I am and what I am doing.
It serves to remind me that life is so incredibly amazing.
Such a gift.
Because sometimes I can forget this.
I think we all do from time to time.
We get so caught up in the drama of our own life –
In our small (and large) daily worries.
In our to-do lists
In our plans, goals and dreams.
And we forget.
We miss the precious moments that could fill our day if only we were noticing them.
But you know what, no matter how dark, or busy or stressful life seems,
It is possible to connect with joy in any moment.
To notice the birdsong outside
The wind in the trees
The flowers placed in a vase on the table
A kind word said in passing
The fresh coat of paint on the neighbours front door
The taste of a crisp apple
Too often we are so caught up in busyness and worry and sometimes resentment or pain
That we miss them – these precious moments.
But you have the power to access joy any time.
All you have to do is to look for it.
Shift your focus, change your mindset.
What do you see, hear, feel, taste?
Notice the details
The joy is there, I promise you.
The Navajo teach their children that every morning when the sun comes up, it is a brand new sun, that will only live for that one day, never to return again.
They tell them that each day must be lived in a good way, so as not to squander that sun’s precious light and time which will come only once in a lifetime.
What a wonderful way to live, acknowledging the unique gift of each day.
