Blender Love! Top tool for healthy eating

optimum blenderYou know I am all about helping you to get more plants on your plate. Well…one of the best ways that you can do this is with a high speed blender. This is definitely the number one tool I recommend for everyone to buy that will make plant based eating a breeze.

Once you buy one, you will wonder how you ever lived without it, I know I do.

I promise you, this is not one of those kitchen gadgets that will sit gathering dust. It will not end up living in some dark cupboard next to your bread machine and fondue pot, rarely to see the light of day. This is something that you will use every day, if not more – so make a special place on your bench top for it.

Really, they are so versatile. I use mine at least two or three times a day.

Now I know this is a big investment, these blenders certainly aren’t cheap, but they are so worth it. A cheaper, less powerful model just won’t do the job and you will find yourself discouraged and frustrated. I personally use the Optimum 9400 high speed blender. I have owned it for two years now and LOVE it. (so much so that I have recently become an ambassador for their products!). It is great value for money and incredibly powerful. Rumour has it that it is powerful enough to blend paving stones into dust… although I wouldn’t recommend it. Whatever the case it certainly does a great job with all the chopping, pureeing and blending.

So what do I use my blender for?

A high speed blender is an awesome machine for blending up whole fruits and vegetables (skin, roots, seeds and all) to make smooth blends to boost your health.

My go to breakfast is a blueberry, banana and kale smoothie bowl that keeps me powering through the morning and my long training runs – a great way to start the day.

Sauces and dressings

Looking to raise your plant based cooking to a new delicious level – well it is all in the sauce. Pesto, tomato sauce, green goddess dressing, hummus, and gravy to name a few.

Every week I mix up a couple of sauces to keep in the fridge which makes pulling together a tasty meal so easy.

My current fav is peanut sauce – add to noodles, or zoodles, pour it over veggies or grains – mmm

Nut milks and cheeses

You won’t miss dairy at all with all the tasty milks and cheeses you can whip up in your blender. Almond milk, sesame seed milk, cashew milk to name a few. I make batches of nut cheeses, vegan sour cream and even icing for cakes.

Pizza night just wouldn’t be the same without the cashew ‘moxarella’ I make


Summer or winter, soups are delicious and they are so quick to make when you have the right tool. In summer we just love gazpacho!
